Key players of the second Semifinalists : Australia and England

On their way to reach the semifinal both Thursday’s participants, Australia and England did exceedingly well. The outcome of a match depends upon many factors, not just only the players’ ability and forms, pitch condition, the general environment, weather, also some bit of luck, players mindset, etc.

To reach the semifinal England conceded thrice, Australia twice but nearly lost to the weaker West Indies team. It is somewhat hard to suggest who Thursday’s probable winner, both teams are in fine form consisted of many outstanding players.

A head to head comparison, of both teams of world cup matches, is heavily inclined towards Australia, out of 8 matches Australia won 6 of them. In this 2019, world cup Australia lost to two better teams, by a superior performance by their oppositions, whereas, England lost to relatively weaker teams  Pakistan and Srilanka.

Though Usman Khawaja is ruled out and Marcus Stoinis is doubtful, Marsh and Wave had been called to take their places, able and very skilled players, Australia has very little to worry about.

David Warner and Aaron Finch, the Captain, both are in terrific form, these two players are among the top five leading run scorers, Warner in 9 matches scored 638 runs averaging 79.75 with 3 centuries and 3 half centuries. Whereas Aaron Finch scored a total of 507 runs averaging 56.33 with 2 centuries and 3 half centuries. In the middle order, Steve Smith is a very dependable player. The bowling department also well covered, Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins are among the top 15 wicket takers, Starc being the leading wicket-takers of the world cup took 26 wickets in 9 innings and Cummins 13 wickets in the same number of matches. Mitchell Starc got the most number of 5 wicket hauls in the world cup, in two world cups he got them thrice.

England is also a worthy foe of Australia, their Ashes rival got many outstanding players. Their Jofra Archer and Mark wood are among the top ten leading wicket-takers , Archer took 17 wickets in 9 matches and Wood got 16 wickets in 8 matches. Adil Rashid can also demolish any batting line up. English opening pair, Jonny Bairstow and Jason Roy, are in excellent form, Bairstow is among the top ten leading run scorer, scoring 462 runs in 9 matches of averaging 51.33 with 2 centuries and half centuries each. One of the ‘Fab Four ‘ Joe Root also in top form, he scored 2 centuries and 3 half centuries averaging 62.50.

Both the teams are in very good form, and probable contender of the title, with a long history, heritage and experience, very unlikely to be onesided, today’s semifinal is any body’s game.
