Lord’s Cricket Ground or commonly known as the ‘Lord’s’ is the premier ground of cricket, is the most prestigious venue under the private ownership of The Marylebone Cricket Club is also called the home of ECB and ICC,till 2005. This prestigious ground has previously been the venue of 4 world cup cricket finals including the inaugural final of 1975 between West Indies and Australia. Of capacity approximately 30000, Lord’s was established in 1814.
As like the previous occasions whenever England hosted the World Cup, Lord’s been the evident venue. For the final match of Sunday the 14th July 2019 , also is not the exception. On tomorrow’s final the host England is going to face the Black Caps, Newzealand. England and Newzealand both being the runner’s up in different world cups, as Newzealand is the current runner’s up and England reached the final on 3 different occasions, 1979,1987 and 1992. England being the most unlucky as they reached 3 finals but never tasted the glory.
How the pitch at the Lord’s behaved in the previous match: The previous match been held here on the 5th July 2019, between Pakistan and Bangladesh, the pitch behaved evenly ,in the first innings Pakistan’s Imam ul Haq scored a century, Babar Azam 96, whereas Bangladesh’s Mostafizur Rahman got a 5 wicket haul. In form Bangladeshi batsman Shakib AL Hasan scored 64 runs and Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi got 6 wickets. So, it is obvious that the match neither favored the bowlers much, the able batsmen scored their runs easily.
Pitch for the grand finale of 2019: From the previous match it was obvious and the pitch is reputed of providing a little for everybody, better for both the batsmen and the bowlers. For the Lord’s pitches, the soil has been imported from the nearby county of Essex, which has a certain and higher clay content providing a higher standard. In the last four matches here in the world cup 2019, the team batting first won the match and on three occasions the team chasing been bowled out. So the team winning the toss should choose to bat first, putting runs on the score to defend. Also , if the condition is over cast , team winning the toss may consider bowling first.The outfield of Lord’s all along been very good.
